Singer National Weekend
2025 Singer National Weekend is being held in the North East of England, and in particular County Durham otherwise known as the ‘Land of the Prince Bishops ’. Our home for the weekend will be the 4* rated ‘Blackwell Grange Hotel’ in Darlington, itself originally a fine country house with a history dating back some 250 years plus. Our hosts for the weekend are Joe and Michelle Staton (SOC North East Region Representatives) who along with other members of the Club have put together a superb schedule of events which includes drives out and visits to several iconic ‘Land of the Prince Bishops’ visitor attractions, most notably the *Locomotion Museum in Shildon , the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle and Raby Castle and country park estate, in Staindrop (where the Club is holding the National Day itself on Sunday 22nd June). It promises to be a weekend not to miss .
2025 will see the North East marking (in a big way via rail200) the bicentennial of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington railway, the world's first steam powered passenger/freight rail service, by hosting multiple events throughout the year. The rail revolution that followed the opening of this line went on to change not just Britain, but the world itself and the Locomotion Museum is home to the engine that started it .

RHS Hyde Hall
RHS Hyde Hall
Hyde Hall, Chelmsford, Essex CM3 8ET
Contact Allan Jones. Details see below. Once again our Singer and Rootes clubs have been invited to join the annual show at RHS Hyde Hall, this year back to the earlier date of 6th July. As previous years cars must be parked up by 9.45 and are not allowed to leave until 4.30 subject to bad weather. This is a great opportunity to view the fabulous gardens of Hyde Hall in the company of many classic enthusiasts- last year over 270 cars exhibited and over 3,000 came to see the display but it never seems crowded. If you can make it please send me your car details and contact number.

Bromley Pageant of Motoring
Contact: Guy Barton. Details Page 3 of the SOC magazine.
The Bromley Pageant of Motoring has been a prominent fixture in the South of England classic car calendar for some years and for 2025 it is moving to the Sussex County Showground at Ardingly, West Sussex, on 27th July 2025. This arrival on the Sussex calendar has prompted Guy and Peter Brown, on behalf of the SOC and SMC respectively, to try and put together a large Singer presence at this inaugural meeting. To this end they are co-ordinating between the two Singer Clubs to have an integrated stand. Members of either Club can register with the organisers and have their cars displayed in the same place. Early registration is open now, and will benefit from a reduced fee as well as ensuring a place; the event is often oversubscribed. The early bird price is £8 per car (plus booking fee). Early bird prices end on 31st January 2025 and the price will then be £10 plus booking fee per car. Each pass is valid for 2 adults and 2 children aged 5-15 (under 5’s are free). More detail at: www.bromleypageant.co.uk
When booking a place please use the link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bromley-pageant-of-motoring-clubs-tickets-961533932877 and access code: SiNGeRoWCc25. Registration online is very simple but there is a helpline for members who prefer more “classic” means of communication: 07375 554420.
Please let Guy know if you are registering (guybo58@gmail.com) so he can keep an eye on numbers and ensure we have enough room.

Fougeres Rally
Contact: Liz Heyer. Details Page 2 of the SOC magazine. Some of you may have heard of this rally which has been running over 4 days in May for a number of years. The rally website is here: https://www.rallye-fougeres.org/en/program/
You will see that Singer is one of the "marques of honour" this year, together with Alvis. It is open to cars up to 1970 so all Singers are eligible. The programme is very flexible - you can choose to do as much or as little as you want.
We have not participated in this rally but know of others who have and they thoroughly recommend it. Entries are limited to 150 and most of these are already taken.
If you are interested, please book direct with the rally organisers (we are staying at Brit'Hotel du Parc). But it would also be helpful if you could let Liz know (regardless of whether you plan to go on to the Lustrum afterwards) and she will look in more detail at ferry options.
